Laser RedTouchPro in Munich: What Can the Device Do – and Who Is It For?

Laser treatments have been among the most sought-after procedures in aesthetic cosmetics for years. With the RedTouch PRO by Italian manufacturer DEKA, MONLIS Beauty Studio Munich offers a device based on a wavelength of 675 nm – one that has until recently been little used in cosmetic practice. This article explains what this means technically, which concerns it may address, and who might consider a treatment.

Please note: laser treatments in the cosmetic sector are not medical procedures and do not replace medical care. All information in this article is for general educational purposes only.

What Is the Laser RedTouchPro?

The RedTouch PRO is a fractional laser by Italian manufacturer DEKA M.E.L.A., operating at a wavelength of 675 nm (red light spectrum). What makes this wavelength notable is that, according to current knowledge, it is specifically absorbed by collagen in the connective tissue – whereas most other laser devices target the surrounding water as their chromophore.

The fractional working method means that the laser beam does not act across the entire surface but rather in small, point-like areas (known as DOTs – diameter approx. 700 µm). Tissue between the treated zones remains untouched, which according to the manufacturer may reduce recovery time. An integrated cooling system protects the epidermis from thermal damage.

How Does the Treatment Work Technically?

The RedTouch PRO uses a scanner to distribute the laser points evenly and in a controlled manner across the treatment area. According to manufacturer data, the average depth of penetration is approximately 500 µm – corresponding to the upper dermis, where the collagen fibres are located.

The targeted thermal effect on the collagen structures causes denaturation of existing fibres. The body responds by producing new collagen fibres (neocollagenesis). This process unfolds over weeks following the treatment and is not immediately visible after the session.

The device’s SmartStack technology allows parameters such as energy density and pulse frequency to be individually adjusted – depending on skin type, treatment area and the desired intensity level.

Which Concerns Can the RedTouch PRO Address?

According to manufacturer information and published clinical applications, the RedTouch PRO is used in the following areas:

  • Non-ablative skin rejuvenation and prejuvenation
  • Visible improvement in the appearance of fine lines
  • Improvement of skin laxity (loss of tissue firmness)
  • Treatment of benign pigmented lesions such as age spots and melasma
  • Improvement in the appearance of acne scars
  • Treatment of superficial vascular changes

Important: the areas of application listed above refer to cosmetic uses. For medically relevant skin conditions, dermatological or medical assessment is always required before considering a laser treatment.

What Does the Research Say?

A number of published studies on the 675 nm laser are now available. An in vitro study published in 2023 (PMC9930151) demonstrated that irradiation of human dermal fibroblasts with 675 nm may stimulate the synthesis of type I collagen. A clinical study from 2024 (PMC11359081) examined the use of the RedTouch PRO across various skin conditions – including skin rejuvenation, acne scars, and vascular and pigmented lesions – and assessed the treatment as safe and well tolerated.

The body of evidence is still growing – larger randomised controlled trials are not yet available. The existing findings are considered promising but should not be interpreted as proof of guaranteed treatment outcomes.

How Does a Treatment with the RedTouch PRO Work?

1. Consultation

Before every laser treatment, a thorough consultation takes place. Skin type, Fitzpatrick phototype, current skincare, possible contraindications and individual concerns are all discussed. Based on this assessment, a decision is made as to whether and to what extent a treatment is appropriate.

2. Skin Preparation

The area to be treated is cleansed. Depending on the intensity of the planned treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to improve comfort. The device’s integrated cooling system also contributes to a more comfortable experience.

3. Laser Treatment

The scanner guides the laser beam evenly across the treatment area. The duration of a session depends on the size of the treatment zone and typically ranges from 20 to 45 minutes. A mild sensation of warmth may be perceived during the treatment.

4. Post-Treatment Care

Immediately after the session, the skin may appear slightly red. This reaction typically subsides within a few hours. It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure for the first few days following treatment and to use adequate sun protection.

Who Is Suitable – and Who Is Not?

According to the manufacturer, the RedTouch PRO can be used on all Fitzpatrick skin types (I to VI), as it protects the epidermis. Nevertheless, an individual assessment by a trained professional is required in every case.

Contraindications for which a treatment should not be carried out include, among others:

  • Pregnancy
  • Active skin inflammation or infection in the treatment area
  • Use of photosensitising agents or anticoagulants
  • Known photosensitivity
  • Recent significant sun exposure or sunburn in the treatment area
  • Existing skin conditions in the treatment area (medical assessment required)

This list is not exhaustive. All relevant factors are discussed individually during the consultation.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The number of recommended sessions depends on the individual concern and the baseline condition of the skin. Clinical reports frequently describe protocols of three to six sessions at intervals of four to six weeks. Since collagen build-up is a gradual process, changes in the skin’s appearance are generally not seen after the first session but after several – and sometimes only weeks after completing the treatment cycle.
